Ride Crash Repeat

I started mtn biking at the young age of 33. Before that I had only ridden a bike for the sole purpose of transportation. After my first ride on the trail I was convinced that only a crazy person would mtn bike. As the mother of three young children my friends and family thought I had lost my mind. I still don't fully understand why I kept coming back for more punishment. That summer on my local trail, I wrecked every 20 yards, cracked two helmets, went off every bridge and my legs resembled those of a 12 year old boy covered in bruises and scabs. Somehow I started to improve. Each time I rode I would pick one new obstacle to conquer. It felt so good. Each time I got on my bike I felt stronger and faster. I rediscovered the child that had long been lost.

I still wreck more than most people I know, but I'm getting better. Riding my bike makes me happy and balanced. The truth is, I love to ride!
